Hall of Fame
It is my pleasure to announce that the Maine Trapshooting Association, through the recent efforts of Tom Hartranft and Eric Adams, has actively establishing the MTA Hall of Fame which will be exhibited at the Maine ATA Home Grounds in Scarborough.
We will announce, in our State Championship program, the the Inductees who will be inducted at our Annual Hall of Fame Tournament to be held in May at Scarborough the following year.
Eric Adams will serve as the interim chair of the MTA HOF Selection Committee. Any person/s desiring to nominate any member for consideration for 2019 Induction should contact Eric and proceed per the process as defined in the Standards and Guidelines.
We are all pleased to be taking the necessary steps to preserve the great legacy of Trapshooting in Maine.
On May 20th, 2018 the Maine Trapshooting Association ( MTA ) held it’s first Annual Hall of Fame Tournament and Induction ceremony on the grounds of the Scarborough Fish & Game Assn premiere trap shooting facility in Scarborough, Maine.
After a morning of singles shooting, MTA President Thomas Hartranft presided over the Induction ceremony where three distinguished Maine Shooters were inducted to the newly established Maine Trapshooting Hall of Fame. They are Calvin Stinson, Joe Hall and Alfred Wright.
The 2019 Inductees were announced. They are Waldo Seavey, long deceased and dominant champion of the 1930’s and Leland Smith, a multiple time State Champion in the 1970’s, who served MTA with distinction for many years. Lee, at age 87, was present. It was nice to see so many share conversation and memories with him.
Attendees were invited to view the new MTA Hall of Fame exhibits in the loft of the main clubhouse. A catered barbecue lunch was enjoyed by all with ample time for old friends to leisurely chat prior to a call to the line for an afternoon of handicap shooting.
